Joseph Loconte

Joseph Loconte, PhD, is a Distinguished Visiting Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Faith & Freedom at Grove City College. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Institute on Religion and Democracy in Washington, D.C. Joe previously served as an Associate Professor of History at the King’s College in New York City and as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy.

Joe is the author of The New York Times bestseller A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and a Great War: How J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis Rediscovered Faith, Friendship, and Heroism in the Cataclysm of 1914-1918. His most recent book is God, Locke, and Liberty: The Struggle for Religious Freedom in the West. Joe is a John Locke scholar who has explored the Christian influences on Locke’s approach to political and religious freedom. He is currently at work on a book about Winston Churchill and the 1945 Yalta Conference.

Joe’s essays have appeared in the nation’s leading media outlets, including: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Affairs, The New Criterion, The National Interest, National Review, Law and Liberty, The Federalist, and RealClearHistory.
